At the door

At the Cascades Casino door

Every walk across the block around Vees Drive, from the Vees & Wade stop or the curling club, ends at one door. Cascades Casino Penticton keeps a short list of rules at that door, and age and photo ID come first.

Age and photo ID

Entry starts at 19. Anyone younger is turned back, and every guest needs valid government-issued photo ID. Staff may ask to see that card again at any stage of the visit, not only at the entrance. The same age line applies across British Columbia, covering casinos, lottery tickets and PlayNow.

Since June 26, 2023, security at every B.C. casino entrance has scanned each photo ID on arrival. The scan is checked against the province's barred list, and Game Break members appear on it. For guests who pass the check and go inside, the system keeps no personal data.

Cards that count

  • A driver's licence from B.C. or from elsewhere in North America.
  • The B.C. Identity Card or the B.C. Services Card.
  • A Canadian or foreign passport, or a Canadian citizenship or permanent resident card.
  • A Secure Certificate of Indian Status, or other foreign ID issued by a government.

Bags, clothing and cameras

Security may search bags and parcels as guests come through the entrance. Illegal drugs and weapons are not allowed inside. Alcohol from outside is refused too, so drinks bought elsewhere stay out.

Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited, which runs the casino, has no formal dress code. Staff still turn away anyone whose clothing, accessories or signs Gateway views as gang-related or otherwise inappropriate. Cameras come under a separate rule. Taking photos, filming or running a live stream on the premises needs authorization first.

Game Break and Encore Rewards

People enrolled in Game Break, the self-exclusion program run by BCLC, are refused entry at Cascades. Encore Rewards is a different list: the casino's card costs nothing, and the Guest Services desk issues it to guests who show valid ID. A government photo ID of the kind checked at the entrance serves at that desk as well.

Questions

Can a guest under 19 come in?

No, the door at Cascades admits guests 19 and older, and nobody younger. The same age rule covers all gambling in British Columbia. Staff can ask to see photo ID at any point in a visit.

Does a foreign passport count as ID at the door?

Yes, passports count, whether Canadian or foreign. A Canadian citizenship card or permanent resident card is accepted too, along with other government-issued foreign ID.

Is filming at the tables allowed?

Filming is not allowed without authorization. The rule also covers photos and live streams, at the tables or anywhere else inside.
